Dr. Akande, My name is Akia Marshall I am a Penn State Abington student and I am rehabilitation and human services major. After doing some research I noticed not only have you taught children’s disability classes but have had publications on female immigrants and counseling techniques for rehabilitation knowing this I want to ask you would you consider being researcher on my ACURA project. I took a trip to Angola Africa and went to an Orphanage where the conditions were terrible and I visited an disabled boy who could not walk nor speak and was left alone in a courtyard full of children. This happened a few years ago, and I could only imagine those conditions getting worse and that is why I want to do research right now. My ACURA research is if government influence has the social impact on the treatment of disabled children under the age of nine in Africa.
